Explosion Proof motors are designed for use in hazardous environments having certain explosive gases or materials present. When choosing an Explosion Proof motor, it is important to select a motor that is approved for use in the specific class and group that defines the hazardous environment the motor will run in.

Siemens also offers a single label explosion proof motor good for Class 1, Group D, Division 1 hazardous areas. These motors range from 1 to 300 horsepower and feature 4:1 constant torque and 20:1 variable torque VFD operation.

Marathon Electric Explosion Proof motors are approved for Class I and II, Groups C, D, F & G hazardous areas. These motors range from 3/4 to 350 horsepower and most motors feature 10:1 constant torque capability.
